이번 주는 요셉이 술맡은 관원장의 꿈을 해석해 주고 그에게 자신의 무죄 탄원을 부탁한지 2년이 지나서야 애굽의 바로의 꿈을 풀어주는 이야기를 읽게 됩니다.

이 본문에는 그런 과정을 통해서 하나님이 자신의 계획을 이루시기 위하여 요셉의 믿음을 도구로 쓰시는 섭리가 잘 드러나게 되는데, 우리는 그러한 섭리를 통해서 하나님이 쓰시는 믿음이 어떠한 것인가를 잘 배울 수 있습니다.

"오늘에야 제 잘못이 생각납니다. 　10) 언젠가 폐하께서 소신과 빵 구워 올리는 시종장에게 노하셔서 경호대장 댁 감옥에 집어넣으신 일이 있으셨습니다. 　11) 소신과 그는 같은 날 밤에 꿈을 꾸었는데 두 꿈의 내용이 너무나 달랐습니다. 　12) 그 때 거기에는 우리와 함께 젊은 히브리 사람 하나가 있었는데 그는 경호대장의 종이었습니다. 저희들이 꿈 이야기를 들려주었더니, 그는 그 꿈을 하나 하나 풀이해 주었습니다. 　13) 그리고 그가 우리에게 해몽해 준 대로 소신은 복직이 되었고 나머지 한 사람은 매달려 죽었습니다." 　14) 파라오는 곧 사람을 보내어 요셉을 불러오라고 영을 내렸다. 그들은 서둘러서 그를 구덩이에서 끌어내었다. 그가 면도하고 옷을 갈아입고 파라오 앞에 나서자 　15) 파라오는 요셉에게 이렇게 말하는 것이었다. 창 41:1-43 　1) When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing by the Nile, 　2) when out of the river there came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they grazed among the reeds. 　3) After them, seven other cows, ugly and gaunt, came up out of the Nile and stood beside those on the riverbank. 　4) And the cows that were ugly and gaunt ate up the seven sleek, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up. 　5) He fell asleep again and had a second dream: Seven heads of grain, healthy and good, were growing on a single stalk. 　6) After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted - thin and scorched by the east wind. 　7) The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy, full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream. 　8) In the morning his mind was troubled, so he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt.
